Middle Years Programme (Candidate School)

We proudly declare that SVB's International School Dombivili is a candidate school for the MYP. This means that we are on the way to receiving authorisation as an IB World School: SVB's International School Dombivili is a candidate school* for the MYP. This school is pursuing authorisation as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education – that we believe is important for our students.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career- related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorisation will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes visit https://www.ibo.org/.

Young people at this stage of their education require an engaging and holistic curriculum that is relevant to important real world issues. We are a candidate school for MYP at SVB's International School Dombivli-IB World School.

The MYP is designed to help students to become creative and reflective thinkers. The curriculum also encourages students to extend their logical abilities and inspires them to implement the learnt concepts in the real world scenario.

Life

Life

MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make connections between their studies and the real world. The middle school offers an inviting, safe and supportive environment for students to learn and grow. Students are empowered to explore the attitudes, values, and habits of mind that will allow them to make complex choices both in their learning and in preparation for life.

The Middle School Programme offers a wide range of subjects and encourages high academic standards through a practical approach to teaching and learning. Assessment is not limited to conventional written papers, and they consist of a variety of tests, e.g. oral and listening tests and research-based tasks.

Community service
At SVBISD, community service is integral to the development and sensitization of students’ social consciences and their responsibility to the community. Students benefit greatly—both academically and emotionally—from volunteering their time to make the community and world a better place. That’s why all SVBISD students start volunteering in sixth grade. While completing community service projects, students develop real-world skills that will help them succeed in middle school, high school, and beyond. They practice:
Leadership
Problem-solving
Collaboration with others
Time management
Communication
Service as Action is not just an integral part of the MYP curriculum in SVBISD but also a key part of learning and sharing. It aims at encouraging students to lead campaigns/ projects/ initiatives that help them to contribute to the welfare of society and play a pivotal role in developing mindfulness, responsibility, ethics, gratitude and the right attitude to be a responsible global citizen.
